Such a wonderful break away

We had a fantastic weekend at the caravan and my girls were treated like princesses from the second we got to the haven cala gran site.

Everyone was so helpful and patient with my 3 disabled children. I couldn’t have asked for a better welcoming from everyone including the people who have their lodges by the caravan.

The Fleetwood ferry cafe was a great place to visit.

The pub prices were really good and the food was lovely and the staff in there were very helpful too.

I would recommend the caravan to everyone as it was well equipped and totally met our needs xx

Our Weekend of Adventure

Thank you so much for an absolutely brilliant holiday. I’ve seen charities that help with holidays before, and always thought it was for ‘poorly’ kids, we don’t see Meg like that, she’s a little person who happens to have a disability. But I’m so glad we went for it, it’s definitely just right for families like ours too.

There was literally everything we needed to have a comfy, safe and stress free holiday. No faffing about asking friends to drive up with our hoist cause it won’t fit in the van at the same time as us! Everything has been thought of, even tiny things like a blender and a measuring jug.

The caravan was beautiful, spotlessly clean and in a gorgeous quiet location. We enjoyed spending time chilling on site , and Meg loved the kids disco. We left her van where it was and explored the area walking and using the trams, so didn’t have to think about finding our way round and find places to park.

People in the area are friendly and we found loads of accessible places and activities to do (the beach wheelchairs are fabulous) and Meg adored the Peter Rabbit experience , which even has a hoist!

Loads of long walks by the sea, in the wind, with Meg roaring with laughter, sticking her tongue out and flapping her hands with joy. We can’t say the word ‘Cleveleys’, we have to spell it, cause she grins every time she hears it and thinks we are going back now!

Meg is fabulous, she’s no trouble at all, but with a disability things take longer, need more planning and often cost a lot more. But, the support from SAWU Foundation takes away so much of the extra stress, so we could just be a family, having a lovely break together and recharging our batteries. Which is exactly what we needed. Thank you so much.

Our Week Away

Massive thank you to Jade and all the team for setting up this charity.

It’s been such a fantastic week away, I’ve made so many memories with the family and we have genuinely had a stress free holiday, not having to worry about all the equipment that's need for a week away and also the massive price tag.

We got to do some amazing things like actually being able to go on to the beach, courtesy of Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs who were amazing from start to finish and I would highly recommend a visit.

We are now in a position to let out this fantastic, fully adapted, 2 Bedroom, 6 Berth Caravan

Our Caravan is located on Haven's Cala Gran Holiday Park in Fleetwood near Blackpool

Our Caravan is available, free of charge, between March and October each year.

We able to let twice a week : Monday to Friday & Friday to Monday

Our Caravan is adapted with the following:

Electric Mobile Hoist (Must bring own Sling) in Bedroom 1
Fully Adjustable, Electric Single Profiling Bed in Bedroom 1
Adapted Kitchen with Lowered Sink and Worktops
Outdoor 1.1m wide Ramp leading to 85cm wide External Door
Wet Room with 2 x Child's Bath/Shower Chairs & Fixed Shower Seat
Sensory, Colour Changing Shower Head (Can be changed back to normal Shower Head)
Grab Handle & Reinforced Hooks above both Single Beds in Bedroom 2
Sliding Doors, 74cm wide to every room
